Seattle/Portland Recap!

All smiles at the observation deck of the Space Needle

I finally made it out the Pacific Northwest! I’ve been trying to visit there for the last 3 years or so, but it just didn’t happen until now. The weather was perfect – 60 degrees (F) and sunny the entire week! Flying over Mt. Rainier and the mountains was breathtaking, especially seeing more of the Evergreens as I travelled by light rail to Seattle Center. Each night, I wrote myself (and loved ones) postcards about my day. I love that time for reflection and what stood out for me that day. I also appreciate getting the ones I sent to my home and getting those memories back even when I’m back in the ‘real world’. Overall, it was a quick spring break get-a-way that I’d love to share with you all!

Check out what I was up to this last week and some of my favorite things from the trip!

Day One:

Starbucks Reserve and Roastery

Day Two:

Post-run to Kerry Park overlooking the Seattle Skyline sunrise

Day Three:

  • Where I Went:

  • Favorite Part of the Day:

    • Seeing the beautiful scenery (sunrise and sunset) to and from Portland on Amtrak!
  • Favorite Place I Went:

    • Powell’s Books! Another overwhelming place BUT the map was helpful as well as having a good idea of what kinds of books I was looking for (genre-wise).
  • Best Thing I Ate:

    • Food truck pizza from Love Verona!
Success at Powell’s!

Of course when I travel somewhere new, I want to feel like a tourist so obviously I went to all the sites in the cities. However, I would love to travel back to Washington and explore outside the city – like Tacoma, Mt. Rainier, and more of the outdoors. I had flashes of Twilight as I travelled by train and saw the trees, imaging Edward jumping from one to the next…. haha. I’m also proud that I did not make any Sleepless in Seattle references until now – probably because I have never seen it…. Added to the list haha.

Where should I go next?
